The Rae Bareli district in the uttarpradesh will have coverage of CCTV surveillance in all its eight-markets round-the-clock with 12 CCTV cameras each. This initiative was taken by the district police with public-private-patnership(PPP). This project is considered as a similar one which was implemented in Lucknow and other major cities of the state mooted by chief minister MR.AKILESH YADHAV.
Talking to the media on 21st march chief minister Akilesh Jadhav had announced that CCTV cameras would be set up at busy crossings of big cities starting with 40 crossings in Lucknow. Related to RAE BARELI district Superintendent of police (SP) Rajesh Pandey said. "We have offered them help by way of fetching mandatory permissions from electricity and telephone departments to use their poles for installation of CCTV cameras as and where needed," Pandey told TOI on phone from Rae Bareli. "All that we have asked them to ensure, is a set of 10 points which have to be complied with for any such move," he said.
Added to that he also confirmed that installation of cameras and further maintenance will be managed by the traders association of the particular market in which they get installed. These associations will have to ensure that a footage back-up of at least 30 days is maintained and provided to the police as and when needed. The police will have the authority to inspect the functioning of these cameras as and when needed and associations cannot say no to the police if it comes to providing footage related to a crime or law and order crises in the area.
