Video Analytics:

Video Analytics:
Video Analytics is used to explain the processing and analysis of video streams which is captured by the surveillance systems. Video analytics” is considered to be a latest technology which creates huge amount of interests in the industry.  It can perform variety of tasks ranging from real-time analysis of video for immediate detection of events of interest to analysis of pre-recorded video for the purpose of extracting events and data from the recorded video.
Features of video analytics:
Motion detection:
Motion detection refers to the capability of the surveillance system to detect motion and capture the event. It will compare two adjacent frames of a recording event and if there is any difference then it will record that frame.
Foreign object:
Detects new object in the video. If any new object that enters and remains in a pre-defined area Field of view then it is taken as a foreign object.
Missing object:
Detects missing object in the video. If any object is removed or missing from the pre-defined area then it gives an alarm.
Auto tracking:
It is used to automatically track the movements of individual persons with the combinations of FIXED and PTZ cameras.
These are useful in number of applications:
Detect and alert users regarding unwanted persons eg-- known shoplifters.
Detect and alert to the arrival of VIP customers or Clients, who need attention.

People counting:
The people counting analytic tracks the bi-directional flow of objects through a user defined area. It is designed for entrances and exits. It is used to count the number of customers that approach an end-cap to gain insight into merchandising effectiveness through which the Retail stores can use information gathered to enhance customer service and optimize staffing. For example, retailers can determine peak traffic hours and staff accordingly to ensure customer service at its highest level.
Video analytics for public safety and security:

The best way to ensure public safety is through video analytics which can provide digital forensic capabilities to law enforcement that creates a potential to increase detection of threats and prevention of public safety incidents.
The main advantages of this video analytics are detected in the following ways:
• Persons or vehicles moving into or out of an area
• Loitering
• Unattended Object
• Illegal parking
• Leaving objects behind
• Removing object
 • People counting

Thus Video Analytics is an ideal solution that meets the needs of surveillance system operators, security officers, and corporate managers, as they seek to make practical and effective use of their surveillance systems.

RESOLUTION:

Resolution is the clarity of the Image it holds. For analog systems, this is typically measured in Television Lines (TVL). The higher the resolution, the better the definition and clarity of the picture. The camera “scans” an image in a series of lines running horizontally. Each horizontal line is made up of a number of elements. Once one line is scanned, the second line is scanned, and so on. Resolution is a measure of the quantity of both individual lines and the component elements making up each line. In a CCD camera, resolution has a direct relationship to the number of pixels on the CCD image sensor. Resolution measures the number of horizontal lines a camera uses to produce an image. Horizontal resolution measures the number of elements making up each horizontal line. Vertical and horizontal resolutions typically yield a 3:4 ratio relationship (e.g., 600 vertical lines to 800 elements in each line). CCTV camera resolution is usually in the 380 to 540 TVL range. The higher the camera’s resolution, the more detail visible (because the lines are closer together and there are more elements in each individual line). Lower-resolution cameras produce images with less detail.

The following one explains how the resolution varies for colour and monochrome cameras:
The Image Resolutions for CCTV cameras are as follows:
In terms of Analog the resolution will be described with QCIF, CIF, 2CIF, 4CIF AND D1.The values for the same is mentioned below:
  1. QCIF- 176 X 120
  2. CIF – 352 X 288
  3. 2CIF – 704 X 240
  4. 4CIF – 704 X 576
  5. D1 – 720 X 576
In IP Camera , resolution is described with VGA, 1.3MP, 3MP, 5MP.
  1. VGA – 640 X 480
  2. 1.3MP – 1280 X 1024
  3. 3MP – 2048 X 1536
  4. 5MP – 2560 X 1920

Recording Resolution of the DVR:
DVRs would record at CIF (352 x 240 pixels), 2 CIF (528x360), and 4CIF (704x480). There are some new DVR that would take high definition, 1920x1080pixels.Comparing to DVR , NVR recording resolution is higher, can be over 2560x1920pixels for 5MP IP cameras @ 15fps.
Camera Resolution:
Camera resolution, usually described in terms of horizontal pixels. Analog cameras usually have 420, 540, 600 pixels/lines of horizontal resolution. Some new Hi-def analog camera with DVI output can handle 1920x1080. IP cameras would cover as much as 2560x1920 pixels.Medium resolution of B/W camera in EIA system is 510 horizontal pixels by 492 vertical pixels and is equivalent to 380 TV lines. High resolution is 768(H) x 492(V) pixels and equivalent to 570 TV lines. Color camera's medium resolution means 330TV lines and high resolution needs more than 460TVlines.

Monitor Resolution:

The monitors in NTSC system have 525 vertical scanning lines regardless of their size. The horizontal 700 TV lines of B/W monitors represents medium level and more than 900 TV lines means high resolution in EIA system. The color monitor's horizontal resolution of 300 TV lines means medium quality and that of more than 450 TV lines means high resolution. To maximize the system's resolution, it is recommended to choose a monitor which has better resolution than that of the camera.

5000 CCTV CAMERAS TO BE INSTALLED IN HYDERABAD:

Considering the safety measures of public  , Hyderabad police planned to install 5000 CCTV cameras at all public places and main junctions in the city. Under the Act of AP Public Safety (Measures) Enforcement and Safe City project this step is being implemented. Andhra Pradesh DGP V Dinesh Reddy told reporters that it is mandatory to install the CCTV cameras with regards to the recurring incidents of terror attack in the city. He said 100 or more people are expected at a time, to provide access controls and install closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance cameras.
The centre has approved Megacity policing plan covering the commisionerates of certain metropolitan cities. Hyderabad was included in the plan for which a central allocation of Rs 48.10 crore has been earmarked for 2013-14 and 2014-15.The project report for this plan is being planned under the guidelines of safe city project, such as CCTV surveillance, command control centers, Dial 100, data centre, highway patrol cars, aerial surveillance, community policing, training of soft skills etc.
Thus a network of CCTVs will now keep an eye on Hyderabad, which has seen at least three major bomb blasts over the past six years and repeated communal clashes.

Role of video surveillance for airports:

Security at airports had become an essential one recently because of smuggling operations and target for terrorism etc. To implement reliable and integrated security solution CCTV cameras had been introduced in all Airport terminals and security check point in order to keep staff and customers safe. Ensuring public safety while guaranteeing business processes and protecting critical assets is the primary responsibility of every airport team. IP surveillance technology and new innovations in video analytics are helping to raise airport security to new heights.

Where surveillance required in the airport?
In order to have effective airport surveillance the cameras can be installed in all the entrances and exit points so that it can capture the video footage of every individual who passes through the airport and also PTZ cameras can be installed to get continuous overall footage of the airport activity. Cameras can be installed in the check-in areas so that it can obtain the image of the passenger who is arrived. Installing surveillance for trams is used to connect one part of the airport to another.  To prevent unwanted theft and also to watch potentially dangerous items cameras can be installed in the baggage claim areas. The ability to control large systems at different monitoring stations with varied access capabilities is mandatory for a complete airport surveillance management operation to be installed.
Thus surveillance cameras for Airport security are not only there to catch criminals it also helps to prevent crime before it happens.

WIRELESS IP CAMERAS ROLE IN SURVEILLANCE INDUSTRY:

A wireless IPCAMERA is a video camera which does not require any cables or external wires for connecting the equipment. They send radio signals that are transformed into video data. It solves many business and residential requirements because the installation process of these systems can be done in flexible and versatile manner. Wireless cameras are used in wide range of places since it offers convenience for the buyers with the absence of cables and wires. Some wireless IP cameras are operated through solar panels with batteries which make them totally independent of power outlets, network connectivity as well. They are portable too, so they can be easily moved from one place to other quite easily.
The WIRELESS IP CAMERAS play a major role in the place where there is no network connectivity which means the connectivity is recommended with high range wireless access point with power system but some users may feel it as a cost-expensive also. In that case as an alternative solution the 3G wi-fi routers can be used to solve this purpose if there is a 3G facility available in that territory. Some wireless cameras are compatible with personal computers since it is used to serve data streams to computer applications or the internet.  Some individuals choose to use wireless cameras to keep an eye on their babysitters or daycare providers. In such cases, wireless cameras are hidden making them practically impossible to detect.
Wireless cameras are also popular for webcamming. A wireless camera owner can allow another Internet user to both see and hear using Internet technology. This security system is considered to be a new high performance camera transmission system.  These are our most popular and recommended systems ever. These wireless systems offer exceptional video data transmission. Thus Wireless is a wonderful technology which is more efficient and cost effective for a surveillance solution
