Bihar: 80 CCTV cameras installed in Maharajganj for bypolls

As per the supremecourt observation the state police head quarters had informed the saran police to install CCTV cameras in maharajganj parlimentary to have a sence of fear among the possible trouble-mongers and ensure a free and fair election. DGP Abhayanand said 80 CCTV cameras have been installed at strategic locations in the constituency and the trouble-prone areas of Maharajganj.
A senior officer of Manipur cadre who is a constituent election observer had appreciated the police’s move of installing CCTV cameras through which the troublesome situations can be handled easily. SP Saran Sujeet Kumar told TOI that apart from installing the CCTV cameras, several static surveillance teams have also been constituted. Each team would comprise of 18-25 police personnel and they would be on the job 24X7 in shifts, of course. The police personnel would also be provided with videographers on the polling day. "The CCTV cameras would definitely help in reducing the movement of criminals and check illegal transaction of money in the constituency," the SP said.
The sources said using CCTV system they can very well monitor the activities which happens on the election place which further help them to punish the culprits and make the place secured.
