Coonoor revamp traffic control with CCTVs

To regularize the traffic system in Nilgiris all major towns Ooty , coonoor, kaotagiri and Gudalur had been provided with police control room and automatic signals and CCTV cameras. Phase 1 for the proposed project , a foundation stone for the police control room was laid at coonoor  bus stand by the Niligiris SP MR.T.Snethil Kumar. The estimated cost of this project is RS.3.5 lakh which is being sponsored by a Coimbatore based company, Royal universal Web net private Ltd."The private company will install the CCTV CAMERAS  and erect the control room and traffic booths at various places in Coonoor town. The advertising space in the traffic booths will be rented out by them within the purview of the rules and regulation of the government and the revenue generated will go to the private company," said M Madasamy, Coonoor DSP.
The project includes a modernized control room in the Coonoor main bus stand, an automatic signal at the level crossing on the Coonoor-Mettupalayam road apart from two traffic booths, one at Coonoor bus stand and the other at Coonoor level crossing."These CCTV cameras will be monitored from the control room and a special audio facility will allow control room personnel to connect with those manning the traffic booths," said Madasamy.The project has been sanctioned by the district administration and the SP.According to Madasamy, the project will be completed within two weeks in Coonoor town.
