CCTV MUST FOR BPUT EXAM CENTERS

The authorities of the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) announced that the colleges not having CCTV facility on the campus will not be allowed to conduct examinations from next academic session. Also it intends that the colleges under BPUT who wants to conduct examination on its campus has to give an undertaking stating that CCTV cameras will be installed in the examination halls.
The registrar of this BPUT Mr.Mihir Ranjan Nayak said that “Any college that will violate the undertaking will run the risk of losing its affiliation right away”. This decision was taken after the State Government issued a notice asking private engineering colleges to install CCTV cameras to check the exact happenings during examination added to that Mr.Nayak also said every college should submit the CCTV footage covering proceedings of the examination to the uiversity.If any identified footage found of a student of an unfair activity then he will be punished as per the guidelines of the university and the OCEA act. This will create awareness among the students to be careful during the examination process.

Police jeeps to have cameras, keep an eye on Chennai



 
Police patrol vehicles will come under Surveillance Network to monitor and record the various activities occurring in the city. Following the success of mobile CCTV surveillance in certain parts of south Chennai, the city police have decided to install hi-tech cameras in 200 of their patrol vehicles. The cameras will have 3G technology which will transmit the footage to mobile phones and tablets of senior police officers. An Officer said that it will enable this technology to send in reinforcements to police personnel at a scene of crime as and when needed. The above technological activities will help to prevent crimes, brawls and several other activities which can be handled more easier than before.
“The cameras will be connected to a router and will transmit data via a 3G connection. The footage can be streamed and viewed within minutes on the mobile phones or laptops through special software. This will help to assess the situation efficiently  and guide the concerned personnel,” said R. Sudhakar, deputy commissioner of police, Adyar.
An officer said the number of cameras allotted to each zone will depend on a number of factors, including crime rates, frequency of agitations and VIP movement in the area. Following the success of mobile CCTV surveillance in certain parts of south Chennai, the Chennai City Police is gearing up to introduce the model across the city hoping that it will really help the public in many ways.
