The Hospital authorities of MAHATHMA GANDHI MEMORIAL GOVERNMENT HOSPITAL (MGMGH) in Trichy have decided to install the CCTV cameras
at vulnerable points in the premises with the recent case of child
theft in the hospital. The hospital Dean Dr A Karthikeyan said ""We have
started the work to install 13 CCTV cameras in some vulnerable areas in
the hospital to put an end to untoward incidents like child thefts. The
surveillance cameras would become operational
immediately"
In the first phase, the CCTV cameras are being installed in the
out-patient department (3), casualty ward (2), labour ward (2),
anti-natal ward (2), post-natal ward (2), neo-natal intensive care unit
(1), and postpartum programme ward (1). The dean and resident medical
officer of the hospital will monitor the CCTV footages on the screens in
their cabins. They would extend the facility to the entire hospital in
due course," said the dean.
Apart from the above mentioned reason of child theft, the hospital
decided to install the CCTV cameras for monitoring the activities of the
staff also hoping that it will put an end for bribe related issues too.
